False Economy: Why cuts are the wrong cure

No doctors or nurses on NHS panel

Right across the UK, hundreds of thousands of people have come out to defend the NHS. Dozens of local and national campaign groups are currently involved in getting one clear message across.

‘We don’t want our NHS to fall into the hands of corporations.’

This page has links to some of the other campaign groups and individuals who are providing more facts and figures about the real cost of NHS cuts to lives and the health of the nation.

Cutting spending is not the same as cutting the deficit.

Ministers claim that they are the only way to deal with the deficit. Anyone who doubts this is a "deficit denier".

We disagree – and so do many expert economists. We don't deny the deficit. It was an inevitable result of the worldwide recession. It has to come down.

But that does not mean that the government's way is the only way.
